Do you ever wonder how to manage your change orders?
In this article you will learn easy steps on how to control the process of change management in Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate (formerly Sage Timberline) Project Management.
Have you ever entered a change order only to find out you have to add more change requests after it has been approved?
Have you ever approved a change order and then found out the change request was supposed to increase the profit to you by $1000 instead of $750 while only costing you $15 instead of $45?
These types of changes are common and easy to fix.
What’s the easiest way to add change requests to a change order? Easy… just add them. That’s right! You don’t have to change the status of the change order. You don’t have to delete the change order and start over. No matter the status of the change order, just find the change order and click [Select Change Requests]. Then choose the new change request you want and click [OK]. Once you have saved, all contracts, costs and totals will get updated.
What about changing a change request that is already attached to an approved change order? Can it be adjusted? The answer is, of course it can be adjusted. Just open the change request (from the change request or change order screen) and update the amounts. When you finish and close the change request, you will be prompted to approve the changes on the change order with the original date.
Is it really this easy? Yes! You definitely don’t have to change the status of the change order. You don’t have to remove the change request from the change order. Just make the changes you want and save!
