Accounting Group Recognized for Positive Impact on Local Economic Landscape and Business Community.

SAN DIEGO – Plumb, Southern California’s premier outsourced accounting consultancy,
announced today that its senior leaders have received awards from the San Diego Daily Transcript and the San Diego Metropolitan for making their mark on the local business community.

Robert Scherer, president and founder of Plumb, was named as one of the San Diego Daily Transcript’s “Top Influentials of 2008.” The winners of the award, which recognizes San Diego’s business elite, were selected by the Transcript editorial board for the impact they have had on their respective industries. Scherer was recognized for developing Plumb’s new model of accounting which provides small and medium-sized businesses with accounting infrastructure that allows them to compete on a larger scale.

“Our new model of accounting has demonstrated remarkable growth and traction during the past year,” said Scherer. “We are pleased to have our work recognized not only as cutting-edge, but also as capable of having a major positive impact on the San Diego business community.”

Steve Bond, executive vice president of Plumb was also named as one of San Diego Metropolitan’s “2009 Movers To Watch.” This award highlights individuals for the impact they are expected to make on San Diego in the coming year in business, political and nonprofit ventures. Bond was recognized for taking advantage of the private sector’s nimbleness by helping businesses outsource their accounting needs through Plumb’s model of accounting. As head of the Pipeline Chair for San Diego MIT Enterprise Forum, Bond was also lauded for his community involvement for time he devotes to helping entrepreneurial companies grow and succeed.

Scherer said the continued recognition of Plumb and its team members is a testament to quality of services as well as the competitive advantage it provides to its clients.

Plumb has 35 employees and offices in San Diego and La Jolla. The company was founded in 1996 as two separate companies: The Accounting Group and Next Stage Software. During the past year, Plumb increased revenues by over 30 percent and acquired three companies: Contractor Software Corporation, McKean Financial and Southern California Computer Services. In 2009, Plumb intends to increase revenues by 50 percent through acquisitions, organic growth and two office openings in new markets.
