San Diego to Host “Pedal the Cause” Cycling Fundraiser In Support of Collaborative, Local Cancer Research

San Diego, CA – Pedal the Cause – San Diego, the region’s only multi-day cycling fundraiser for cancer research, announced their first annual event, with 100 percent of the proceeds funding cancer research in San Diego. The beneficiaries are all three of San Diego’s National Cancer Institute-designated cancer centers: UC San Diego Moores Cancer Center, Sanford-Burnham Medical Research Institute and the Salk Institute for Biological Studies.

Taking place October 26 – 27, 2013 between La Jolla and Julian, Pedal the Cause – San Diego is open to riders of all abilities, with several courses of varying length. Pedal the Cause also includes a virtual rider option, offering those who choose not to ride a way to participate in the groundbreaking event.

Pedal the Cause, San Diego will begin on Saturday morning, October 26, 2013 with an opening ceremony in La Jolla. Participants will embark on a two-day cycling journey across San Diego’s compelling landscape. On Saturday, cyclists will choose either a 50 or 90-mile route to the mountain town of Julian. In Julian, participants will arrive at Rider Village and Camp, where they can relax with hot showers, a soothing massage, and yoga, and settle in for an evening of dinner, beer, wine, entertainment and camaraderie.
