The Wisdom and Power of Succession Planning for Nonprofit Organizations

San Diego Nonprofit Leadership Forum ~ Lunch & Learn Series

The Wisdom & Power of Succession Planning for Nonprofit Organizations

Does your nonprofit organization have a written succession plan in place?  According to the BoardSource survey, Leading With Intent, only 34% of responding nonprofits reported having a documented succession plan.  A succession plan can help a nonprofit successfully deal with the inevitable challenges of a leadership transition, whether it is anticipated or an unexpected departure.

In this free lunch and learn, we will lay the groundwork for a successful leadership transition in the nonprofit sector.  Topics include:

  • Conducting an effective talent search
  • Messaging and marketing the transition
  • Forming and managing search committees
  • Mitigating risk
  • Managing internal vs external candidates

The San Diego Nonprofit Leadership Forum was established with the help of Plumb, First Republic Bank, Nonprofit Management Solutions and The San Diego Foundation to offer quarterly educational presentations to enhance the success of San Diego nonprofit organizations.
